1. 我們歡迎今天第一次參加我們聚會的兄姊，很高興您和我們一起敬拜上帝，盼望您能繼續在我們中間一起成長。本教會聚會時間是現代英語禮拜中午12點30分在副堂、台語禮拜下午2點，歡迎參加。（介紹後）唱「在耶穌裡，咱攏做一家人（三次），從今直到永永遠遠，在耶穌裡，咱攏做一家人。」今天禮拜後，在副堂備有茶點，希望所有兄姊留步，一起分享、認識，在主裏交誼，並共享鄉親情。

2. 婦女團契10月份例會，延至今天禮拜後3點45分，在交誼廳舉行，邀請Mary Lo帶領律動健身操及簡單的排排舞，歡迎兄姊參加(請穿運動鞋及長褲)。

4. 本週的查經恢復，禮拜三晚上及禮拜四早上繼續查考使徒行傳第3章，請兄姊踴躍參加。

5. 我們中會已於10月7日通過Kerrisdale教會聘請Montreal的Stephen Filyk擔任牧師，Montreal中會也於10月23日同意Stephen牧師赴任。將於11月17日開始在Kerrisdale教會服事，中會在11月23日下午4時舉行他的就任禮拜，歡迎兄姊踴躍參加。

7. 今天是宗教改革主日，長老教會是屬改革宗教會之一，今天的封底譯文有提到宗教改革主日的意義，請兄姊閱讀。

8. 下禮拜天11月2日，恢復標準時間，時鐘撥慢一小時。

聘牧委員會及小會很樂意在此報告聘牧的進行工作。

聘牧委員定期開會，到目前已完成教會狀況的資料整理並送至總會。聘牧的啟事也已在台灣教會公報及加拿大長老會刊物刊登，我們歡迎具有下列條件的人應徵：

1. 確認基督信仰並樂意事奉及宣教

2. 相信並接受加拿大長老教會的信仰及規章

3. 了解移民教會的文化及需要

4. 精通台、英語

申請截止日期2009年1月31日，申請人直接和代理議長Rev. Dr. Roberta Clare連絡，e mail住址clare@standreus.edu，所有申請人資料將會保密。

Update on the search for a minister

The Search Committee and the Session is pleased to report that progress is being made in the search for a new minister. The Search Committee meets regularly. To date, it has completed the congregational profile for the national church office. Notices are posted in the Taiwan Church News and the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

VTPC welcomes applications from qualified candidates who demonstrate the following:

1. A strong Christian faith, demonstrated ability and willingness to serve the Lord and proclaim the Gospel

2. Belief in, and acceptance of the creeds, confessions and governance of the Presbyterian Church in Canada

3. A demonstrated understanding of the culture and needs of an immigrant church

4. Fluency in both Taiwanese and English

The deadline for application is January 31, 2009. Applications may be submitted to the Interim-Moderator: Rev. Dr. Roberta Clare by e mail clare@standrews.edu

All applications are confidential.

After considering all applications, one candidate will be invited to “preach for the call” during a regular Sunday worship service. A vote by VTPC members will take place during a congregational meeting held to consider the call. We hope to fill the vacancy by the end of June 2009.

宗教改革主日

在活出信仰Living Faith (加拿大長老教會的文件之一)第七章裡提供了一個上帝的教會的定義。定義是以一個宣告開始：

7.1.1 教會是基督與所有被他呼召來敬拜和服事他的子民共同構成的。

這個聲明接著確認教會是一體的、神聖的、共同的、普世性的、從使徒開始有傳承性的。然後我們承認：

教會需要持續的改革，因為每個時代的失敗和罪會敗壞了教會。

強烈的字眼！而這段話就像是16世紀宗教改革口號的現代版: ecclesia reformata sed simper reformanda－「教會已經改革，但是需要持續的改革。」

其實這段話也是延伸我們經常引用且宣稱教會要成為一個「被改革和改革中的教會。」神學家 A.J. Conyers 稱這為「修正已修正的」並將其視為教會必經的持續性過程。

改革並不是過去的事，不管是在自我的生活層面或是整個教會的層面，真正的改革是不曾結束的。而那實現希望的聖靈也不會聽不到那些渴望更新的禱告。

1. We would like to welcome everyone who is worshipping with us for the first time. We hope that you will join us for worship again. Our regular worship times are 12:30 pm for Contemporary Service and 2pm for Taiwanese Service.

2. We would like to thank Rev. Dr. Glen Davis for preaching at 12:30 Service today. Glen is the Co-Interim Moderator of KPC, and also a professor at VST.

3. TPSeeds is planning to have Progressive Dinner on Saturday. Nov. 1. Any family is interested in opening their house for young people, please contact the leader, Sandy Hung at 604-767-0284, so that arrangements can be made. Members of TPSeeds please be at Church by 5:30pm.

4. At the special meeting of the Presbytery of Westminster on Tues., Oct. 7^th the call to the Rev. Steve Filyck for KPC was approved unanimously. Steve hopes to begin work in Vancouver on Nov. 17^th. Please keep the afternoon of Nov. 23 free for his induction service at 4pm.

5. Today is Reformation Sunday. Presbyterian is one of the Reformed Churches.

6. Next Sunday, Nov. 2 will end the Daylight Saving Time. The clock falls back 1 hour. Please take note.

7. 12:30 Contemporary will be hosting a Coffee House event, joined by the C&C fellowship and TPSeeds, on November 8th at 7pm in the church hall. It will be a fun and relaxing night of singing, games, and getting to know each other better. We will have open-mic later on in the night and are looking for those who would like to share their musical talent with us! Special refreshments will be provided. If you would like to perform something that night, or if you can help out with the event, please let Elaine or Debbie know. Invite your family and friends!
